First of all, let me tell you that vertical DPC is always placed on the outer side of the wall, meaning the side that faces the street.
The final street level will almost reach the bottom DPC level (outside), while the inside floor level of the house will match the top DPC (inside).
The inside area is where the floor level of the rooms will be made, and it will follow the level of the inner DPC.
Now, between these two DPCs (inside and outside), we add stone chips. These help to block water from seeping through and stop dampness from spreading.
Because the outside level is lower and the inside level is higher, if we don’t install vertical DPC, moisture from the filling soil (ghassu) can come inside and spread through the walls.
So, to stop this seepage, we apply vertical DPC.
Once the foundation brickwork is completed, we start filling the soil (ghassu), and that’s when we install vertical DPC.
